Thymulin helps the immune system, making it beneficial for patients with autoimmune and rheumatologic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Thymulin is a naturally occurring nonapeptide in the thymus gland (the little gland between the lungs that makes our white blood cells). The thymus is primarily recognized for its inflammatory response, immune system impact and function of T-cells. Thymulin helps in the regulation and enhancement of the immune system, making it beneficial for patients with autoimmune or rheumatologic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, general immune support, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Thymulin Side Effects
Thymulin is generally well-tolerated, with a low incidence of side effects. However, some patients may experience:
– Mild injection site reactions (redness, swelling, or pain)
– Allergic reactions (rash, itching, or hives)
– Flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, or muscle aches)
– Headache
– Dizziness
In rare cases, more severe side effects such as anaphylaxis may occur. Patients should be monitored for any adverse reactions, especially during the initial phase of treatment.
Thymulin Dosing
The dosing of Thymulin varies depending on the condition being treated and the individual patient’s response to therapy. The standard dosing regimen is as follows:
Adults: Most commonly 450 mcg administered subcutaneously 5-7 days/ week. May increase up to 1.5 mg administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly, 2-3x per week. The dosage may be adjusted based on clinical response and tolerability.
