Estradiol oral capsules are taken by mouth.
Dose: 0.5-2 mg by mouth daily
Cycle 21 days on, 7 days off
Vaginal estradiol
Vaginal estradiol cream is used to treat vulvovaginal atrophy, which is thinning, drying, and inflammation of the vaginal walls. Vaginal dryness is a painful symptom that many women
may experience at some point during their lives. This symptom can be caused by a decrease in estrogen levels due to menopause, breastfeeding or certain medications.
Estradiol cream is applied directly into the vagina using an applicator. Used daily x 2 weeks, then as needed.
Dose: 0.01% cream, 2-4 grams daily x 2 weeks, then taper to 1 gram 1-3 times per week.
